A Christmas Greeting from Msgr. Makarios Wehbi to Our Congregation
“Glory to God in the highest, on earth peace, good will to men.
Dear parishioners and friends of Jesus the King Melkite Catholic Church,
Aswe celebrate the Nativity of Jesus, we remain eternally grateful to God for all the blessings, especially for the gifts of life, family, faith community, friends and neighbors. I take this opportunity to thank you most sincerely as you have been such a blessing to our parish by being active and supporting us with your gifts of time, talents and timely financial help. My special gratitude goes to all the volunteers in our different ministries who do such a wonderful job in serving the various needs of our parish with much enthusiasm and commitment. It is with humble joy that I give thanks for the honor of serving as your Pastor. As people of faith, we acknowledge that Christ became one of us to show us the Father’s love for us. The Light of ‘Love’ has come to earth. And now, it’s time for us to pause to see this Light and feel its warmth and celebrate its cause. We come to celebrate the birth of Christ as the Son of God and to accept the powerful message of God made flesh. God himself comes to intervene in our history in order to definitively set things right.Christmas belongs to us believers, to those who believe that Jesus Christ, Son of God, was born of the Virgin Mary to reconcile us to one another and to the Father. This is why He came. God will fill us with His peace if there is room in our lives for Him. May we be a people of faith and joy that rejoices in the light and hope that Christmas brings. This light truly does shine in a world full of darkness, and this light must penetrate our hearts. We are called to be the light of Jesus to the world, so that one person at a time, one soul at a time, we can start bringing that light to a world that so desperately needs it. So, as we celebrate the birth of Christ this Christmas, let joy be born in our hearts. Let us inspire this world, that can seem so lost in darkness, with the light of Christ in the light of our joy.On behalf of the priests, Reverend father Timothy, Reverend father Michel and myself, I wish a Holy and Blessed Christmas and Peaceful New Year to all my dear parishioners and friends. May the Love, Joy and Peace of the Divine Child Jesus be in your hearts and your homes.
